Captain cooks monument is on the top a hill overlooking the village of Great Ayton where captain cook spent his childhood and is the home of the Captain Cook School room museum.
Unlike Roseberry topping it is easier to get to the summit of Captain Cooks where the monument at Grindale Gate is accessible by car which is just about half way to the top.
The path to the top climbs gently up - it is well worth the trip as the views are great - all over the Cleveland Hills and across over Great Ayton, Stokesley and beyond!
